A social enterprise partnership set up to assist the UK’s public sector to deliver savings from existing PFI contracts.
In a period of austerity all public sector bodies are financially constrained and are struggling to deliver the desired range and quality of services. Over the past two decades much of the public infrastructure that has been developed has been funded using the private finance initiative. Whilst this has meant that the UK’s built environment and public service delivery capability has been enhanced, it has also meant that many public sector bodies have seen themselves locked into what are perceived as relatively inflexible long term contracts. As public sector spending contracts, this represents an increasing burden that needs to be reviewed.
